Our Endorsement in 2016 Presidential Elections: Donald J Trump for President

Published: Oct 24, 2016

We need to ask ourselves the following questions:

  1. How come more and more of our citizens express frustration and disillusionment today with the political institutions that govern the nation?
  2. How have we fallen so much into political and policy gridlock?
  3. How have both political parties moved either left or right of the nation’s political mainstream landscape?

This angst was reflected in both parties primary elections where Donald J Trump has surprised the establishment, by ignoring convention and protocol on his way to securing the Republican presidential nomination, while a long-time socialist generated throngs of enthusiastic supporters on the left and almost secured the Democratic nomination in place of presumed front runner Hillary Clinton.

The American Electorate clamor for an alternative to the “business as usual” environment in Washington DC where a vast array of lobbyists, elected officials and special interest groups, manipulate the levers of power, for their own enrichment at the expense of ordinary citizens. The past eight years have pushed us $20 trillion into debt, obligations that will burden our children and grandchildren, while our economy appears to stall under the growing weight of Federal Edicts and regulations that smother growth and innovation. Our allies on the world stage watch nervously as America retreats from its position of strong leadership leaving strife and conflict rushing to fill the void. The middle class struggles while an administration that promised hope and unity appears to have brought division.

The Democrats have nominated Hillary Clinton who is capable of leading the United States. Electing her the first woman president would break the ultimate “glass ceiling” for the fairer sex. However, we regret that we cannot endorse her for a number of specific reasons such as her stated intent to greatly increase federal spending and taxation, along with questions about honesty and trust during the events in Benghazi and subsequent Hearings, mishandling of classified / sensitive data, perceived conflict-of-interests related to her family’s Clinton Foundation with US Department of State and events related to her personal medical issue during the campaign among other things. Finally, it is our opinion, that in order to pander to her “base” the today’s Secretary Clinton, unlike yesteryear’s, renounces many of President Bill Clinton’s successful priorities — freer trade, spending discipline, light regulation and private sector growth to generate jobs and tax revenues.

The Republicans have nominated Donald Trump, a very successfully Businessman, Media Personality and serial Entrepreneur, who is our opinion, is like a breath of fresh air to waft into Washington DC’s murky political environment. Since he is an “outsider” there is considerable reticence among the political elite on all sides which has led to such an increased scrutiny and vitriol directed at Mr. Trump to derail his campaign and have a more “business as usual” nominee for the POTUS job. He runs on a platform of lower taxes and a simplified tax code. In our opinion, Donald Trump understands and appreciates the conditions that lead to prosperity and job creation and would be a friend to small business and entrepreneurship.

We also expect Candidate Trump to ensure that American Trade is given a “fair shake” in Trade negotiations and we expect him to renegotiate Trade deals like NAFTA, TPP (Trans Pacific Partnership) so that he “levels the playing field” with countries like China, Mexico and others. Although Donald Trump may be a dilettante in Foreign Affairs, his forcefulness and forthright manner brings a level of unpredictability, is expected to shake up old alliances and make foes wary which may be a good thing!

Of particular importance is the U.S. Supreme Court. The next president may be charged with filling multiple vacancies, shaping the court’s direction for a generation. Mr. Trump prefers nominees who recognize the Constitution’s checks on federal authority as a bulwark against tyranny. Based on current political climate, protections enshrined in no fewer than five amendments in the Bill of Rights could be eliminated or diminished under a progressive high court.

Mr. Trump is not the danger his critics claim nor is he the magic elixir many of his supporters crave. However, he promises to be a source of disruption and discomfort to the privileged political elites in the establishment for whom the nation’s strength and solvency apear to have become subservient to globalization, power’s pursuit and preservation.

Hence, our unequivocal endorsement – Donald J Trump for President.
