President Trump Effect – Campaign Promises kept in the first 150 days – A+

Published June 15, 2017

It has been about 150 days since President Trump assumed the highest office in the land and it is refreshing to see a leader keep his campaign promises. He has been diligently pursuing his set out agenda and is reassuring to see him fulfill some important conservative objectives which we have enumerated below

  1. Official US Withdrawal from the Trans-Pacific Partnership: President Trump lost no time in fulfilling one of his key campaign promises to help the suffering US Workers who when the US TR (Trade Rep) issued a letter to the signatories of the TPP agreement stating that US has formally withdrawn from the agreement per guidance from the United States on Jan 30, 2017. This executive order was purely symbolic since the deal had not been ratified by a divided Congress. During his campaign, he had criticized the accord many times stating it as a “potential disaster to our country” since it harmed US manufacturing and the workforce. This action has received warm support from both the left as well as the right and Democratic Senator Bernie Sanders agreed with this course of action stating that trade deals like this have been a “disaster” and has cost us millions of Jobs! We also heartily support President Trump’s stance on NAFTA – we understand that he has set his sights on that unfair agreement also which needs to be renegotiated to “level the playing field” for American Small Manufacturing and workers!
  2. Appointment of Conservative Supreme Court Judges: President Trump had to opportunity to nominate a Supreme Court Justice to replace to the late Justice Antonin Scalia and picked active Judge Neil Gorsuch on the US Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit to be his nominee. Judge Gorsuch is a solid conservative who interprets the Constitution they way it should be interpreted and is the perfect choice on the Supreme Court Bench. His confirmation vote sailed relatively smoothly in the GOP controlled Senate and was confirmed as an Associate Justice of the Supreme Court in April 2017
  3. Withdrawal from the Paris Agreement on Climate Change: On June 1, President Trump took the right step to withdraw from the Paris Agreement and announced that US would cease all participation in the 2015 Paris Agreement on climate change mitigation. In his speech, President Trump cited “draconian financial and economic burdens the agreement imposes on our country” and has also stated that he wishes to “begin negotiationss to re-enter the Paris Accord or a really entire new transaction that are fair to the United States, its businesses, it’s workers, it’s people, it’s taxpayers”. We totally concur that this one sided agreement should be revisited (if at all) as it appears that compliance and onerous energy restrictions could cost America 2.7 Million Jobs including 440,000 manufacturing jobs while it give countries like China permission to increase their emissions for the next 13 years while they migrate to “cleaner” technologies. It is our view that the President is very correct in his assessment and this 13 year period can result in US Industrial capabilities being reduced while China will overtake us and this course of action to exit the agreement is the most appropriate response

Hence, it is our assessment that the President’s performance in fulfilling his key campaign promises is an A+. If this is an indication of things to come in the coming months, we should be seeing more such positive developments in areas of Tax Reform and advancing other conservative agenda items and on the path to making America great again!
